Laminar seal rings are a metal labyrinth seal consisting of multiple rings in a groove. The arrangement of the rings and their specific orientation are dictated by the use and the severity of the environment.

Laminar configuration

The WQSD series configuration consists of 2. 2-turn laminar seals against the shaft. When excessive contamination is present in the environment or a worker requires additional protection, laminar seal rings can be used in combination to provide additional sealing. This application doubles the WQSD ring arrangement by placing a second set of rings in an additional groove to increase the sealing effect. This combination has a third ring installed to create an additional maze.

Application

Connector – The sealing system in this assembly has been specially designed to provide optimal protection against contamination. The gases create pressure in a central cavity, protected at both ends against the ingress of contaminants. The design ensures the purity of gases entering and leaving the central cavity.
